An Oxnard man named Armando Liborio De La Mora was ordered to serve one year in county jail and placed on domestic violence probation after a series of physical assaults against his girlfriend and multiple violations of court orders.
The incidents began on May 19, 2025, when an argument at his residence turned physical. De La Mora prevented the woman from leaving, struck her repeatedly, and threw a 40-ounce metal water bottle at her, according to court records.
After the victim contacted police but declined to speak with officers out of fear, De La Mora confronted her inside the home. He threatened her life and pushed a kitchen knife under the bathroom door where she had taken shelter.
The woman fled through a rear exit, sought help from a family member, and received hospital treatment for her injuries. Officers arrested De La Mora at the scene. While detained, he attempted to reach the victim, and after release on bail he approached her at a Ventura bar, violating an active restraining order.
On June 18, 2026, De La Mora entered guilty pleas to two felony counts of corporal injury on a girlfriend, one felony count of false imprisonment by violence, and two misdemeanor counts involving violations of domestic relations orders. He also admitted three aggravating factors, including the use of great violence and the victim's particular vulnerability.
Deputy District Attorney Hyla Schneir, who handled the case in the Domestic Violence Unit, stated: "This was a serious and traumatic attack that will have a lasting effect on the victim. She showed tremendous courage throughout this process, and we will continue to advocate for the safety and protection of domestic violence victims."
