Daily LA Times ("we", "us") operates dailylatimes.com and related applications. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a password (stored only as a secure hash). You may optionally set a timezone and locale.

Usage information. Our servers keep standard technical logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — used for security, rate limiting, and troubleshooting.

Reading preferences. If you save articles or manage account settings, we store those choices with your account.

We do not collect payment information at this time. We do not sell personal information.

How We Use Information

• To provide the service: signing you in, showing saved stories, sending account emails such as verification and password reset.
• To protect the service: preventing abuse, enforcing rate limits, and auditing sensitive account actions.
• To improve the service: understanding, in aggregate, how the site is used.

Cookies

We use a small number of first-party cookies necessary for the service to function, such as your session and sign-in token. See our Cookie Policy for details. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers that host our infrastructure and deliver our email, under obligations of confidentiality, or where required by law.

Data Retention and Your Rights

Account data is retained while your account is active. You may access and update your profile at any time from your account page. To request deletion of your account and associated personal data, or a copy of the data we hold about you, contact us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.

Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, access tokens can be revoked from your account's security page, and administrative actions on accounts are audit-logged.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
