Oxnard police officers and emergency medical teams were called to a commercial shopping center on the evening of August 28, 2026, after reports of gunfire at a Five Guys restaurant in the 2700 block of Portico Way.
First responders located a 19-year-old man who had been struck by a single bullet. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
No additional victims were found at the location. Detectives have not identified any suspects and lack a description of the shooter or confirmation on whether the person fled on foot or by vehicle.
The Violent Crimes Unit is handling the case and is working to determine if the victim was specifically targeted. Officers are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and speaking with potential witnesses in the area.
