Coro California plans to mark its 50th Crystal Eagle Awards Gala on Oct. 8 at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood. The evening program runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. and will recognize several figures for their contributions to public leadership in the state.
Sen. Alex Padilla is slated to receive the Bruce Corwin Alumni Impact Award. He completed Coro Southern California’s Fellows Program in Public Affairs in 1995. The other three honorees will each be presented with the Crystal Eagle Award.
Former Los Angeles City Controller and Councilmember Wendy J. Greuel is one recipient. She was the second woman elected to citywide office in Los Angeles and the first to reach a mayoral runoff in 2013. Earlier she helped develop the after-school program known as LA’s BEST.
Los Angeles County Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins will also be honored. She became the agency’s first female and first African American chief executive in 2021. Wiggins previously led Metrolink and served as Regional Programs Director for the Riverside County Transportation Commission.
Bank of America is the fourth honoree for its work on community revitalization and wildfire recovery. The bank has assisted affected clients, supported rebuilding projects and organized partnerships among businesses, government and philanthropic groups, according to ABC7 Los Angeles.
Coro California focuses on training and connecting leaders across sectors to address complex challenges and reinforce democratic institutions. Tickets and sponsorship details for the gala are available on the organization’s website.
