U.S. immigration authorities have returned British commentator Milo Yiannopoulos to the United Kingdom, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. Officials stated that he was detained earlier this week and placed on a flight home on Friday.
The Department of Homeland Security reported that Yiannopoulos entered the country legally in May 2019 but remained after his authorization expired. An immigration judge issued a final removal order on July 22 when he did not appear at a scheduled hearing.
Agents took him into custody on Thursday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Louisiana. A department spokesperson said, "He chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation's laws."
Yiannopoulos has built a public profile through conservative commentary and criticism of feminism, Islam, and immigration policies. He has voiced strong support for stricter border measures, including a post last year calling for "Zero immigration for the next 20 years. No ifs, no buts."
Most recently he served as a spokesperson for rapper Ye, who performed in New Orleans on Friday. Earlier roles included work at Breitbart News until 2017 and a brief internship with former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene in 2022, followed by managing Ye's short-lived 2024 presidential bid.
The arrest occurred during a period of increased detentions tied to federal immigration enforcement. Conservative activist Laura Loomer posted on X that she had previously highlighted his presence in the country, adding that he "incited violence against President Trump and worked for Marjorie Traitor Greene."
Yiannopoulos and his representatives have not issued statements, and he has not updated his X account since Thursday. His earlier public appearances on college campuses drew both protests and support over free-speech claims.
