An 18-year-old woman named Destiny Valderrama told reporters she was followed into a Hollywood 7-Eleven by a man and a woman who then assaulted her and took her chain, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. The incident occurred last Friday night after she had attended a quinceañera with companions.

Valderrama said she realized the pair was after her necklace the moment they began pulling on it. Surveillance footage reviewed in the report shows a woman in a white sweatshirt seizing her by the hair once she had been forced to the floor, after which a man joined in the assault.

"As soon as I felt the tugs to my chain, I knew that's what they were trying to get," Valderrama stated. She added that she pleaded with the attackers to take the item without further harm, but they continued to choke her and press her head to the ground.

Valderrama lost consciousness after a blow to the head. Upon regaining awareness she found her friends injured from their efforts to intervene, and she later noticed bruising on her own neck and arms. She confirmed there had been no earlier dispute with the assailants.

She asked a store employee to summon police and to serve as a witness for the report, but the employee declined, according to her account. ABC7 Los Angeles reached out to 7-Eleven corporate and the store manager, neither of whom provided comment.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to the outlet that no arrests have occurred and that the investigation is continuing. A still image from the store footage was released showing the two individuals Valderrama identified as her attackers.
