The Monterey County Sheriff's Office has issued arrest warrants for a 38-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl linked to the death of a newborn whose remains were found along a roadside near Moss Landing.
The infant, identified as Baby Angelita, was discovered by deputies on August 1 in the 100 block of Struve Road. The girl faces one count of murder, while Sergio Galvez Perez is charged with six counts that include incest, child endangerment, concealment of a child and multiple child sex offenses.
Investigators determined that the teenager gave birth to the child at the roadside site and left the newborn on the pavement before departing the area, according to FOX 11 Los Angeles.
Authorities state that Perez is concealing the girl and blocking law enforcement from locating her. A vehicle connected to the case was identified through Flock license plate cameras, which also pointed to additional individuals.
A 36-year-old woman, Ofelia Garcia Ortega, was taken into custody on a child endangerment charge but posted bail and was released. The sheriff's office has released few details about her role or the relationships among the three people.
