Work has started to fix Dolly Parton's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after it was damaged by scratches across the name, according to ABC7 Los Angeles.

Ana Martinez from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce explained that the star had already been scheduled for maintenance by the Hollywood Historic Trust because of existing cracks. The area had been cleared of tributes to allow that work to proceed.

After the clearing, the star was further damaged. A video posted on social media by Lore Corona showed the scratches and described finding the star in that condition during a visit with her daughters.

"Somebody decided to do this about 10 minutes before we got here," Corona said in the video. "It just doesn't make any sense." She added that a custodian at the location reported a woman had kicked over candles and used a shard from one to scratch the star.
