Authorities in Monterey County are searching for a 14-year-old girl suspected of killing her newborn daughter and for the girl's father, who is accused of impregnating her. According to ABC7 Los Angeles, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has issued warrants for both individuals in connection with the case.

The father, identified as 38-year-old Sergio Galvez Perez, faces multiple charges that include incest, lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, and child concealment. Officials say he is also accused of hiding the teenager from law enforcement.

The infant, referred to by investigators as Baby Angelita, was found dead on August 1 in the 100 block of Struve Road. A forensic examination showed signs of traumatic injury, and detectives determined that the 14-year-old gave birth at the location before leaving the area.

Investigators used license plate-reading cameras to identify a vehicle connected to the case and, within 53 hours, linked it to the individuals involved. A 36-year-old woman named Ofelia Garcia Ortega was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and later released after posting bail.

The sheriff’s office has asked the public not to approach Galvez Perez if spotted and to call 911 instead. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the father or the teenager is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Nicholas Kennedy at (831) 755-3773 or Detective Richard Geng at (831) 759-7279.
