Federal authorities in Los Angeles have indicted podcaster Benjamin Azariah Southworth on charges of threatening to kill President Donald Trump.
Officials took Southworth into custody Thursday morning at his residence in the Westlake area of the city, according to First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli.
"Southworth is charged with posting videos calling for President Trump’s assassination, then targeted the family of the President’s personal attorney by publishing their home address and phone numbers, and leaving voicemails threatening 'justice comes to your door,'" Essayli said in a post on X.
Essayli stated that threats against the president amount to a federal crime and that the office will pursue any cases involving political violence to the maximum extent permitted by law, according to reporting by ABC7 Los Angeles.
